Giza-Bound

Four days until I am in Egypt! I'm getting excited about the trip. I even started packing last night (which says something, because I usually start packing for a trip at midnight, the night before the flight). I will be travelling with Caitlin, friend from work, and Vin, friend from university. We'll be visit Hadeel, who's already mapped out the whole trip, including our first meal. This is what she just wrote me:

first night here - we dine at a restaurant in my district called Abou El-Sid: Egyptian food with a touch of class. Check out this review in one of the magazines here: http://www.egypttoday.com/article.aspx?ArticleID=6478. you're going to want to bring your camera, this is bloggable material.

We are also going to take in Egyptian music at the Culture Wheel Centre, hang out in sheesha cafes and experience haggling in a market as well as overt sexual harassment. And the pyramids.
We're going to be celebrating Chinese New Year while we are in Egypt (technically, while we're on our flight home from the trip, but close enough) so I asked that we try out a Chinese restaurant in Cairo, which would be a hoot. A guy once made a documentary about visiting Chinese restaurants around the world. I remember him saying the best place he found was in Madasgascar. Anyway, Hadeel says we might go for Korean because it's more authentic than the Chinese joints in her neighbourhood. So maybe I'll get to celebrate Chinese New Year in a Korean restaurant in Cairo.
